Fishing Report
Tuesday June 30th, 2026
With water shortages all over the west, the Gunnison Valley is no different. We are experiencing below average water levels on all watersheds, but it is not effecting the fishing just yet. Cooler temps have been keeping fish happy and allowing bugs to continue to hatch throughout the day. Keep an eye on water temps later in the day.
Gunnison River
The Gunnison River is still fishing great given the low water levels and fishing pressure. Most of the major hatches have come and gone by now but we are still seeing some residual bugs popping throughout the day. We are still seeing the occasional Green Drake pop off around noon and we still have plenty of caddis to go around. Hopper dropper in the early morning and transitioning over to dry flies has been very effective.
San Juan worm, Prince nymph (10-14), Pats rubber legs (10-14), Yellow Sally nymphs (14-18), Pheasant Tail (14-20), Elk Hair Caddis (16-18), Furimsky’s foam drake (10-14)
Taylor River
The flows on the Taylor are very low. Green drakes should be on the lower half of the river at this time. Look for them around lunchtime.
