About The Guided Trip

Growing up in Colorado I learned a passion for the outdoors at an early age and was groomed to be a fishing guide without even knowing it. Building drift boats as a kid and traveling around the west with my dad and Sister, I was fortunate enough to float and fish many rivers throughout Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and Idaho. I caught my first trout on a dry fly while floating the Snake River in Idaho when I was eight years old. I knew at that point fly fishing would play a major role in my life but had no idea to what extent.

In 2009 I moved to Gunnison, CO and started learning the area by fishing as much as I possibly could. I started guiding for a local shop in 2011 and continued to work my way around the valley for different outfitters and shops cutting my teeth in the industry. Slowly trying to work my way up the totem pole as a guide and learning how the business works. I had an idea in my head that I wanted start my own outfitter and guiding service with the notion that I could create an unforgettable experience on the water. I decided to take a leap and I started my own outfitter in the spring of 2020.

By starting my own outfitter and guide service, I can customize my trips to more fit my client’s needs or wants on the water. The goal was is to create an experience and be able to teach my clients more in depth about fly fishing. When I fish I tend the think outside the box and take a creative approach and it shines while on the water with clients. I want to help my clients take their fly fishing to the next level and increase their knowledge of the river, bugs, fish and rigging, all while taking a back door approach.

I am proud to say that I am the only outfitter in the Gunnison Valley that is fly fish only.

I am one of the most passionate guides you will find on the water these days. When I am not guiding you will find me back on the river trying to better my knowledge and understand the fishery. When I am not on the water you will most likely find me at the vice, drinking a beer and tying up bugs for the next day’s guide trip. Not only do I run my own outfitter in Gunnison, but I also work for Black Canyon Anglers in the Gunnison Gorge.
