Float fishing is a great way to spend the day on the water and is definitely the most fun! Experience fly fishing from a whole new perspective. It can be very fast paced at times but provides more opportunities to catch fish by covering more ground and seeing more water than a wade trip. With your guide rowing the boat and instructing you where and how to fish, you will definitely be spoiled after this trip. You will be required to have your own mode of transportation to meet at the boat ramp.

Float trips on the Arkansas are available conducted through a licensed outfitter.

Things to bring on a float trip

  • Fishing license

This can be purchased online here or Gene Taylor’s Sporting goods, Walmart or City Market

  • Reusable water bottle to eliminate the use of plastic waste

I will have extra water with me

  • Appropriate clothing given the weather (*Glasses, jacket, warm socks, hat)

I have dry storage for all gear. Backpacks and coolers are usually not necessary.

  • Proper footwear

I usually wear sandals on the boat. Wading boots are not necessary. Wear something you don’t mind getting a little wet.

All gear including rods, reels, tippet and flies will be provided. You are more than welcome to bring your own gear. Hand tied flies by yours truly will be included in the cost on all trips.

The Guided Trip is a proud supporter of the Kick Plastic Campaign and we do all we can do eliminate the use of plastic on and off the water
